Some of the must see locations are :
- Kandy – The world famous temple of the tooth in Kandy which holds an annual torchlight temple procession where ornamentally covered elephants and hundreds of colorfully dressed dancers participate.
- Adams Peak – A place of pilgrimage for Buddhists where they believe that the rock contains one of Lord Buddha’s footprints.
- Sigiriya Rock - A 5th Century BC rock fortress and palace ruin in the central Matale District , surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. Sigiriya is renowned for its ancient paintings (frescos). It is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. It's also declared by the UNESCO as the 8th Wonder of the world.
- Trincomalee- Koneswaran Hindu Temple, believed to be one of the first Hindu Kovils in Sri Lanka
